Novena University Signs Memorandum of Agreement with Virginia International University

The Prochancellor and Chairman of Novena University, Mr. Chuks Ochonogor was hosted by Virginia International University on October 8, 2018 to discuss potential areas of academic collaboration between both universities.
Dr. Suleyman Bahceci, VIU Executive Vice President for University Advancement arranged a series of meetings throughout the week to introduce Mr. Ochonogor to the VIU community. Novena University’s visit began with a meeting with VIU’s Executive Leadership followed by an academic meeting with the University’s Deans and Directors to discuss the possibility of establishing a VIU branch campus in Nigeria as well as dual degree programs in the areas of Business and Computer Science.
Dr. Ochonogor’s visit coincided with VIU’s annual President Barbecue and selection of Mr. and Ms. VIU 2018 so he had the added benefit of meeting a larger section of the VIU community including students from Nigeria. Following the festivities, Dr. Bahceci and Mr. Ochonogor signed a Memorandum of Agreement on behalf of VIU and Novena University as the first official step in the universities’ academic collaboration.
The partnership will allow Novena University deliver its vision to develop and promote the advancement of knowledge through excellence in scholarship for the benefit of the society. Novena University remains a dynamic institution that will promote academic discipline and resourcefulness in the production of globally competitive graduates. Hence the partnership with VIU.
VIU is strategically invested in creating international academic partnerships with overseas institutions with the goals of bringing more student diversity to VIU and creating academic programs promoting student and faculty exchange. VIU currently has over 100 active MOUs with institutions of higher education around the world.
